Textile Designers Choices

The thesis observes the design process of a small col – lection consisting of digitally printed textile products. The thesis has an ecological and ethical point of view for the material choices. It introduces different sta – ges of the design process where the designer can and has to make decisions according to the desired mate – rials. In these situations the designer considers one’s own values according to the product’s usability, the final costs of production and the purchase prices.

The thesis is conducted by Metropolia University of App – lied Sciences and is a part of DigiPrintNetwork-proje – ct, which assembles Finnish companies working among digital printing. It is also a part of Design Players -web service directed to Metropolia’s students. Companies ta – king part in the project are also among the cooperation partners during the production of the generated products.

The result is a small collection of three products, of which design and production processes co – ver the majority of the thesis. Two of the products were published in the Design Players -web service.
