The industrial design student, Simo Lahtinen and a team won a Vibrant Port Road -innovation competition which was organized by city of Lahti, Lahti Energy and regional development of Lahti LADEC (29.1. -31.3.2016). The team members were Suvi Saastamoinen (landscape architect and environmental artist), Mikko Rikala (industrial designer of Sito) and Simo Lahtinen (industrial design student).
The aim of the innovation competition was to find new services and products that could brighten up the public environment. Those services could be tested for e.g. during MM2017-competition and later could be used in other public events. New innovations could be digital applications related to public guidance or event information sharing as well as an overall comfort-enhancing design solutions for the area.
The adjustable urban furnishing Mokša is a well planned suggestion, including the possibility to integrate other smart services, such as downloading, guiding or base station, the panel concluded. Two winners were chosen by the panel of judges: Light Cabin Mokša by team Sito and Digital Urban Adventure by Observis Ltd.
