Design Studies

Degree Program in Design is located in Helsinki Metropolitan Area and is a leading educator in the field of design. The challenging structural changes, the latest technology of the field and its increasing internationalisation have been taken into consideration in the planning of the education. The programme strives for finding innovative solutions to current and future needs and promotes wide use of design in the metropolitan area.

The Degree Programme in Design contain Textile Design, Interior Architecture and Industrial Design. The aim of the Degree Programme in Design is to provide the students with versatile skills and know-how for the expert duties in design and for practical assignments in the field. The studies are focused on materials and form giving, management of production methods as well as on creative problem solving, professional communication, group work and interpersonal skills, economic thinking and management of new technology. The studies also include visual expression, design and professional IT applications. The aims of studies are based on mastering designing, production, design process and visual arts and building the professional identity.
