Textile design students on view in Heimtextil fair 2016
We are two textile design students at Metropolia University of applied Sciences. We are doing an “international project”-course independently, which entails us designing and manufacturing a piece of furniture for the Heimtextil -fair in Frankfurt, Germany (12.-15.01.2016).
Heimtextil is the biggest international textile fair. People have been gathering there for more than 40 years. The fair has over 67000 visitors annually, and 2700 presenters. It is a gathering of large textile manufacturers, smaller design companies, freelancers, entrepreneurs, purchasers, industry insiders,and students. It is a showcase of the latest innovations and offers workshops for the whole duration of the fair. The theme for this year is Hotel Europe. The students are tasked to design a textile or a furnitureand showcase it. We made a large divan for a hotel lobby.
