Habitare 2025 – Metropolia’s Exhibition booth Design Call

Metropolia will participate in the Habitare 2025 fair and is now looking for both products and a working team. The booth aims to showcase the innovative ideas of Metropolia’s students and highlight the significance of the design process in a designer’s work. The working team will organize a design competition, and the selected works will be displayed at Metropolia’s booth at Habitare in Helsinki Messukeskus. Below, you will find instructions on how to apply for the design task and participate in the working team.

Design Task: PROSESSI/PROCESS

Present your own design process in an interesting way. The work itself can be any interior product or functional object. Fair visitors are keen to see how a designer arrives at specific choices and what it takes to create a finished product. You may submit a piece you have already completed and showcase related process materials, or you can design something entirely new.

The most important aspect is to illustrate what designing and the process look like—it can include sketches, scale models, videos, reflections, sources of inspiration, or anything else that demonstrates your approach. We are looking for diverse and intriguing perspectives on the design process.

The selected competition entries will be showcased at Habitare in Helsinki Messukeskus from September 10–14, 2025, at Metropolia’s exhibition booth.

Submit a free-form application in PDF format, briefly introducing yourself, your design concept, and the process. Attach an image of the finished product or sketches of your design. Any Metropolia student can participate, either individually or as part of a team.

Deadline: April 7, 2025, at 3:00 PM.
